Workforce
Workforce Training Fund – offers employers up to $250,000 for flexible, customizable training programs to train new hires or upskill incumbent employees.
MassWorks Infrastructure Program – a competitive grant program funding high-impact public infrastructure projects to support and accelerate job growth.
Commonwealth Corporation – is a state agency supporting youth and adults in Massachusetts by investing in innovative partnerships with industry, education and workforce organizations.
Government Agencies
Massachusetts invests more than $114 million annually to support the innovation and small business sectors through a variety of state and quasi-governmental entities, including:
MassDevelopment – the state’s economic development financing agency offers a suite of financing options for growing businesses, including loans and guarantees for facility and equipment purchases, tax-exempt bonds for manufacturing facilities, and interest-free financing for brownfield remediation and assessment.
Massachusetts Office of Business Development – MOBD oversees the Local Tax Increment Financing Program, a municipal real estate tax exemption based on the added value of the property. The terms are negotiated by the host community and approved by MOBD.
Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership – part of the MEP National Network, MassMEP provides affordable consulting services in the areas of growth and innovation and is the lead agency for companies participating in Manufacturing USA programs in photonics, robotics, and more.
Federal Opportunity Zone Program – provides federal tax benefits to individuals investing in companies or real estate within one of the state’s 138 opportunity zones.
