The Institute for Applied Life Sciences’ (IALS) Core Facilities at the University of Massachusetts Amherst have received more than $4.4 million from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) to acquire an 800 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer. This high-field atomic resolution instrument will aid researchers working to develop the next generation of drugs to treat high unmet-need diseases, including various types of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
This funding was made possible through the MLSC Research Infrastructure program which provides grants for capital projects that support the life sciences ecosystem in Massachusetts by enabling and supporting life sciences research and development in the Commonwealth. This grant was part of an announcement made by Governor Healey and the MLSC in September, which awarded $19.8 million in funding to support 15 projects driving life sciences innovation in Massachusetts.
