Lasell Opens New Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lab

Lasell University recently celebrated the grand opening of its new Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lab, made possible by a Workforce Development Capital Grant worth nearly $750,000 from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC). The state-of-the-art lab, the only one of its type in Massachusetts, aims to revolutionize how students in the life sciences engage with complex concepts by providing hands-on learning opportunities through immersive digital technology.

The AR/VR Lab, located in Lasell’s Winslow Academic Center, is designed to enhance educational experiences for students to interact with virtual models of biological systems, conduct virtual dissections, and explore anatomy, genetics, and other life sciences topics in ways that promote greater understanding.

The grant follows an MLSC award made in 2023 that enabled the purchase of a wide array of laboratory equipment to support biology and biochemistry curricula, bringing the MLSC’s total investment in the University to more than $1.4 million.
