ABI-LAB is a life science campus comprised of multiple incubator buildings for biotech companies of all sizes. Their state-of-the-art facilities are designed to support startups and small companies with move-in ready, private lab space, ranging from 500 square feet to 1,000 square feet. ABI’s modular design and flexible terms allow growing and established companies to configure space ranging anywhere from 1,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet. In November of 2024, ABI-LAB will open their next incubator building, adding 35,000 square feet to their existing 105,000 square feet.

Home to 40+ Life Science companies, ABI’s community is designed to foster collaboration and innovation. ABI offers shared equipment in their Innovation Lab, foundation equipment for each lab, private conference rooms, all utilities, and a variety of additional resources designed to enable life science companies to extend their runways.

ABI is conveniently located on Route Nine, less than a mile from the Mass Pike, and a 30-minute drive away from Cambridge and Boston. The mission of The Forsyth Entrepreneurial Science Center (FESC), co-located within the nonprofit research institute, is to foster innovative biomedical research and to accelerate the growth of early-stage companies.

The FESC provides lab and office space to entrepreneurs, as well as support for grant pursuit, outside corporate sponsorship and access to Forsyth’s “Entrepreneurs in Residence.”

Preference is given to tenants that align with Forsyth’s scientific domain, which includes the $100 billion dollar oral health market and synergistic research related to global health with a focus on the microbiome, immunology and infectious disease.

Our Mission is to facilitate and assist the creation, growth, and success of the next generation of biotech companies. We aim to do this by creating a vibrant community and maintaining the affordable lab and office space and striving to support the entrepreneurs any way we can.

The facility is an open-concept laboratory and office space that can house up to 12-15 early-stage companies. The incubator is a renovated 10,000 square feet space within a former manufacturing plant, with ample expansion opportunities.

Founded in 1984, Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives (MBI) is the Commonwealth’s longest running nonprofit life science startup incubator located in Worcester.

MBI offers 65,000 SF of private laboratories complete with onsite parking at an affordable rate.

The Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst is a hub for innovation, connecting research and industry. It is home to over 25,000 square feet of facilities to help businesses grow. The Mount Ida Innovation Space was established by UMass Amherst and the UMass Innovation Institute to connect early-stage companies with the Commonwealth’s largest public research university.  

The Mount Ida Innovation and Collaboration Space, located on UMass Amherst’s campus in Newton, Mass., is home to a community of entrepreneurs. It comprises more than 25,000 square feet of coworking space: offices—both dedicated and shared—in addition to conference rooms, auditoriums, laboratories, a makerspace, and event spaces. The space serves as a hub for innovation by connecting UMass Amherst with the area’s most forward-thinking companies and individuals.

A partnership between the Harvard Innovation Labs and LabCentral, the Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab is a fully equipped, co-working wet laboratory for early-stage life science startups. The space is available to ventures that are founded by Harvard students, alumni, faculty, or postdoctoral scholars.

IALS Collaboratories

The Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) offers IP free, affordable, rentable research laboratory spaces available for industry partners located in the Life Science Laboratories on the UMass Amherst Campus. These Collaboratories can accommodate residents which from start-up companies (developed at or external to UMass) to more established companies that seek space on campus.
