Who is the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center?
With a mission like no other, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) aims to accelerate breakthroughs and opportunities for all. Made possible by a $1.6 billion public commitment, the MLSC launches funding programs, partnerships, and investments with a focus that is not just a single cluster, but a Commonwealth. We are home to an ecosystem that we’re building together. At the center of it all, we’re helping the life sciences move further, faster.
A History of Leadership
Massachusetts’ global leadership in the life sciences is no accident. It’s because of the powerful, intentional, and continued engagement of Massachusetts elected and appointed leaders. Since 2008, government and industry have collaborated on a holistic and intentional commitment to sustaining an ecosystem-wide approach focused on innovation, geographic equity, and diversity.
Since its creation in 2007, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center has strategically deployed more than $1 billion in Massachusetts, through a combination of grants, loans, capital infrastructure investments, tax incentives, and workforce programs. These investments have created thousands of jobs and propelled the development of new therapies, devices, and scientific advancements that are improving patient health and well-being in Massachusetts and around the world.
